Abraham D. Avillanoza, 82, of Monroe Township, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Old Bridge.
Born and raised in Tarlac, Philippines, Abraham came to New Jersey in 1995, thereafter settling in Monroe Twp. He was an educator for more than 40 years in his native Philippines, starting off as an elementary school teacher before becoming a regional supervisor for the Department of Education in Region 4 in the Philippines. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending his time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Benjamin, Santiago, Jesus and Jesustenes Avillanoza. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita of Monroe Twp; his children, Abraham Avillanoza and his wife Zolita, of the Philippines, Mara Suarez and her husband Adriano, of Monroe Twp. and Grace Avillanoza of North Brunswick; his siblings, Liberato Avillanoza, of the Philippines, Zacharias Avillanoza, Jr. of Maryland, Roberto Avillanoza of the Philippines and, and Gloria Cuyugan of Texas; thirteen grandchildren, and; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 AM Saturday, December 15th from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Philippines.
