Agatena “Tina” Kopitskie, 85, of Spotswood, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, Tina and her husband, John Edward, were married in 1963. They moved to Spotswood in 1969 and the home they built remained the heart of their family for the rest of her life. After serving 25 years as an executive assistant with Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, Tina retired in 2002. A devoted communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Spotswood, Tina lived her faith through kindness, generosity, and an open heart.
Tina was happiest when surrounded by family. She loved crafting and painting, and she made every holiday special with the dinners she hosted year after year. Her home was a gathering place for relatives, friends, and anyone who needed a warm welcome—so much so that her children’s friends affectionately called her “Mom.” One of the highlights of her life was a six-week trip to Italy with her husband, where she reconnected with her family roots. Above all, Tina cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Tina was predeceased by her sister, Rose Williams; her brother, Silvestro Chillemi; her grandson, John Robert; and her beloved husband, John Edward, who passed away in 2011.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Kim; Gregory; Steve and his wife, Elizabeth; and Scott and his wife, Mary Ellen; her sisters, Carmella Knoth and Virginia Chillemi; her grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Brielle, Leslie, Sarah, Matthew, Luna, and Zinnia; and a great-grandchild on the way.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 30th, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 1st, beginning with a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by committal at Holy Cross Burial Park in Jamesburg.
