Alan A. Shields

Alan A. Shields, 68, of Spotswood, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born in New Brunswick, Alan grew up in South River and settled in Spotswood in 1970. He retired in 2010 after 25 years with Hilton Realty of Princeton, where he worked as a maintenance person throughout their many rental complexes. Alan loved his family and his grandchildren.

Predeceased by his wife, Alice Shields in 2012, his parents, Neal and Jean Shields and, his siblings, Neil Shields, Jr., Rose Malone and Dale Shields, he is survived by his children, George Hermanski and Ethel R. Mazzella; his remaining siblings, Jean M. Shields, Patrick Shields, George Shields and Patricia Roe, and; his grandchildren, George, Jr. and Thomas. He also leaves behind his canine buddies, Princess and PeeWee.

A private cremation has been entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home.
