Chester Harold Jones, Jr.

Chester Harold Jones, Jr., 83, of Spotswood, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Lothair, KY, Chet was raised in New Kensington, PA and also lived in New Brunswick before settling in Spotswood 50 years ago. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Chet retired in 2001 from Hercules, Inc. of Parlin. He was a former member of the Spotswood VFW Post 4589. Together with his wife, Mary, Chet enjoyed travelling around the world. He was an avid puzzler and he enjoyed watching WWF wrestling. Above all, Chet was good father, grandfather and husband who will be missed dearly. The family wishes to extend thanks to Drs. David August and George Karp, the nurses, and all of the staff at East Brunswick Oncology for their kindness, warmth and caring compassion over the years. A special thanks is extended to Drs. Jeremy Rothfleisch and Rita Weinstein of East Brunswick Dermatology for saving Chet's life on that fateful day in your office. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Charles, Carl, Eugene, David, Lillian, Louise and Lois, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Seneca) Jones of Spotswood; his children, Geralyn Jones of South Carolina, Mary Habekorn of Arizona and Paul M. Jones of Spotswood; his mother-in-law, Mary Seneca of Spotswood; his in-laws, Margaret Jones of Arizona and Virginia Phillips and her husband George of East Brunswick, and; his grandchildren, Richard, Alaina and her husband Eddy, Caitlin, Alex and Brandon. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 Saturday from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment will be in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville, NJ. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
