Daniel Offenburger, 51, of Helmetta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at University Hospital, Newark.
Born in New Brunswick, Danny lived much of his life in the Spotswood / Helmetta area.
Danny proudly served in the United States Army from 1991 to 1997 as a Cavalry Scout in the 12th Infantry Division, 3 of those years overseas, including a peace keeping mission in the Bosnian Conflict. His awards include Air Assault Wings, Combat Life Saver, Scout Sniper School, several overseas ribbons, and Army Achievement medals. Danny was very proud of his Service to our country.
For the past 15 years, Danny was a commercial electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 456, North Brunswick.
Danny’s friends and family fondly remember his infectious laugh and he was well known by all for his great sense of humor and his unwavering kindness towards others, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. His presence brought joy to everyone who knew him.
Danny was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He also enjoyed playing golf, camping, and studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Predeceased by his parents, Cynthia and Barry Offenburger, Sr., he is survived by his siblings, Heather Ford and Barry Offenburger, Jr.; Stepfather, Jake Eso; his God Parents, Aunt Lou and Uncle Jeff Peterson; an Uncle Jim Coffey and his wife, Liz; Girlfriend, Anna Jackman of Ewing, along with several cousins. Known as “Dan O.,” to them, he is also survived by his extended family: Brother, Matt Saracino, and his wife Leslie; Sister, Sophia Saracino; Dad and Mom, Arthur Saracino and his wife, Rose; God daughters, Valentina and Alyssa. He was also known as Uncle Danny to Sebatian, Valentina, Alyssa, Jeffrey, Hailey, Alex, and Isabella.
Cremation was private. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on Sunday, May 4th, from 2:00 until 6:00 PM, at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 5th, from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Danny’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
