Elizabeth Duffy, 74, of Monroe Township, formerly of Old Bridge Township, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Born and raised in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York, Liza graduated from Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn, New York as part of the class of 1968. Beginning in the early 1970s, she lived in Old Bridge Township for years before settling in Monroe Township in 2022. For several years beginning in the mid-1970s, she relocated temporarily to San Francisco, California to help build a start up company in corporate motivational products. On returning home in the 1980s, she began a career with her beloved Bristol Myers Squibb as a temporary employee, rapidly advancing through the organization to become the manager of pharmaceutical importing and exporting, where she retired after more than 30 years of service in 2015. She was very proud to have received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Rider University while working full-time and attending classes in the evening.
Liza was a devout Catholic and a Communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Old Bridge. She spent her entire life giving to others in need. She loved to bake sweets for her family, friends and neighbors, and she was renowned for her fabulous cheesecakes. Her nieces and nephews looked forward to going to Aunt Liza’s to consume her baked goodies and spend time swimming in her pool.
Liza was known as the “coupon queen,” clipping coupons for many sale items that she would turn around and give away to her family. Her generosity was overwhelming; she just loved to take care of her family. Her endless giving earned the nickname “Auntie Claus” from her young nieces and nephews. She enjoyed attending Broadway shows, walking, exercising, watching the New York Mets and most of all, swimming.
Predeceased by her parents, John and Marion Duffy, and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Moran, she is survived by her siblings, Kathy Rodriguez and her husband, Anthony, Florence Canetti and her husband, John, Edward Duffy and his wife, Denise, Peter Duffy and his wife, Michele and John Duffy; Nieces and nephews, Timmy Moran, Erin Smith, Brian Duffy, Nina Brown, Peter, Robert, Michael, Sarah and Frank Duffy and, Jessica Newton, and; great-nieces and -nephews, Scarlett, Lily, Adriana, Jack, Gabe, Landon, Beckham, Rory, Sophia, Lucas, Anthony and Ryan.
Funeral services will begin with a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, on Monday, September 22nd, followed by a concluding service in the Crematory Chapel at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
