Enriqueta Valentin, 96, of Spotswood, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at her home.
Born and raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she came to live in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York in 1955, remaining there until 2012 when she settled in Spotswood. She worked in the New York garment industry for more than twenty five years before retiring. Enriqueta was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and sewing and, she was known as a very kind, caring and compassionate woman who was loved by all who knew her.
Predeceased by her husband, Agustin Valentin, in 1994, her daughter Evelyn Carcana, her parents and eight of her siblings, she is survived by her children, Awilda Valentin, Edwin Valentin and his wife, Doris, Cosme Valentin and, Edward Valentin and his wife, Margarita; her siblings, Amelia Ramos, Wilfredo Ramos, Sr. and Nelsa Arbia, and; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will begin with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 7th, at 12:30 PM, from Saint James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg, followed by committal in Saint James Cemetery, Monroe Township. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, October 6th, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood.
