Ethel B. Moriarty, 84, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in Monroe Township.
Ethel was born and raised in Rockingham, North Carolina. When she turned 18, she left Rockingham behind and moved to New York City with her best friend. It was in the big city that she met and fell in love with her husband of many years, Donald Moriarty. She enjoyed going out dancing with her husband and friends.
She had 5 children with her husband and raised them in the Bronx, NY, until she eventually moved to New Jersey, where she would live for the rest of her life. During her time in New Jersey, she lived in East Brunswick, Old Bridge, and Piscataway. She settled in Piscataway in the late 1990s. During her time in New Jersey, she got to see her children create lives of their own and meet her grandchildren and great grandchild. She also enjoyed going to the Piscataway Senior Center, where she went on many trips and made many friends. She enjoyed traveling and visited several countries including Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. She also loved to eat, her favorite meal: fish and chips and drink her favorite drink: iced coffee.
Ethel enjoyed hanging out with her 8 grandchildren, Michele, Angelica, Kayla, Samantha, Robert, Alexa, Patrick, and Ryan; and played an integral role in their lives. She enjoyed being a great-grandmother to Grace even more.
Ethel joined her husband, Donald Moriarty, once again. She will be greatly missed by her 5 children, Susan Keefe, Dawn Duh and her husband Robert, Julie Brokaw and her husband Robert, Jennifer Garofalo and her husband Sam, and Kevin Moriarty and his wife Staci; her 8 grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter.
