Harvey Schwartzstein, 93, of Manalapan, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at HMH Old Bridge Medical Center, after a long illness.
Born in The Bronx, New York, Harvey was raised in Yonkers, New York and then lived in Somerset from 1963 - 2004 before settling in Manalapan in 2004. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict, and then served for two more years in the United States Naval Reserves. He was a dental technician with Trio Porcelain Studios of New York City, New York for many years before starting his own business, H & H Dental Studios in Marlboro, retiring in 2004. Harvey loved playing the piano & drums and during his military service, he played with USO bands on tour with such famous stars as Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin & Bob Hope. After retirement, he played the piano twice weekly for patients at Overlook Hospital in Summit for more than ten years.
Predeceased by his daughter, Amy Schwartzstein in 2007 and his brother-in-law, Raymond Fern, Harvey is survived by his son Barry Schwartzstein of East Brunswick; his sister Cecile Fern of Springfield; his grandchildren, Rebecca Stavola and her husband David of Red Bank, and Dr. Daniel Schwartzstein of East Brunswick, and; a great-granddaughter, Millie Margaret Stavola of Red Bank.
A chapel service will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16th at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by interment at Beth El Cemetery, Washington Township (Bergen County) at 12:45 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Chapel.
