Helen Anita (Geisler) Funk, 82, of Monroe Twp., died Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Helen lived in Edison for 50 years before settling in the Rossmoor Community of Monroe Twp. in 2000. She was a homemaker. She was a deeply religious woman who enjoyed spending time with her husband, her family and her grandchildren. She was a great fan of old Hollywood movies and musicals, especially those starring Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. She also traveled extensively from Maine to Florida, Canada, England and Jerusalem, Israel, where she was baptized in the Jordan River. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Funk in 2009 and, her son Douglas Funk in 1997, she is survived by her children, Robin Thompson and her husband Dominick, of Port Reading, Kenneth Funk and his wife Paula, of Spotswood and Robert Funk and his wife Tina, of Port St. Lucie, FL; her sister, MaryLou Cocuzza of Edison; her brother, Harold Haugaard of Oxford; eight grandchildren, and; three great-grandchildren. Cremation was private. Committal services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday from the Chapel at the NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. The family will receive friends at a Memorial Service on Wednesday at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
