Irene Janas

Irene Janas, 80, of Spotswood, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born in New Brunswick, she was a lifelong resident of Spotswood. While raising her family, she worked clerical positions for a number of companies in the area. She was an animal lover, especially dogs. She enjoyed shopping, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, lighthouses and her vacations to Cape Cod. But most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband of 32 years, John J. Janas in 1996, her daughter, Carla Janas in 2017 and, her brothers, John and Walter Surowiec, she is survived by her son, David Janas and his wife, Eileen, and; her grandchildren, David Knoblock and his wife, Lauren, Michael Knoblock, Jodie Krieger and her husband, William, Tim Janas and Cassandra Rummell.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Irene’s memory may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA.
