James G. Ruboyianes, 87, of Spotswood, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Chicago, IL, Jim lived in Spotswood for more than 40 years. Following his graduation from High School, Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a military police corporal. He was in active combat in the pacific theater during WWII. After his many years of proud military service, Jim worked as a newspaper proofreader and typesetter. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a custodian with the Spotswood Board of Education. Jim loved animals and he opened his home to many canine and feline companions, sometimes even offering shelter to rare wild species. He enjoyed spending his afternoons in Thompson Park feeding the deer. Jim served as a scout master to troop 24 of Spotswood in earlier years. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Rotondo) Ruboyianes; his sons, James Ruboyianes (from an earlier marriage) of Kansas, George Ruboyianes and his wife Cindy of Jackson and James Ruboyianes of South River, and; his grandchildren, Christopher, Kassandra and Nicholas. Services will begin at 9:15 AM Friday from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by an 11:00 AM Divine Liturgy from Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel. Entombment will be in Holmdel cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Jim's memory may be made to the Animal Rescue Force, PO Box 418, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
