Jean Cappellino

Jean (Sgaglione) Cappellino, 87, of Monroe Twp., died Monday, August 27, 2012 at her home. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jean settled in Monroe Twp. in 2003. Jean was a homemaker. As a teenager, she was a show dancer in local theater productions. During WWII, she worked as a civilian for the US Navy at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where she handled top-secret troop deployments. She was a volunteer coordinator for the meals-on-wheels program in Brooklyn for many years. She was a poet and an avid crossword and puzzle aficionado. Above all, Jean enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly as well as missing her famous french toast. Predeceased by her husband, Vincent J. Cappellino in 2001, her daughter, Jacqueline Bondi in 1978 and, her sister, Lucy Del Grosso, she is survived by her children, Mary Ann Cappellino and her husband Michael Salgo, of Brooklyn, NY, John Cappellino and his wife Lois, of Stony Brook, LI, NY, Jeanne Magenheim of Houston, TX and, Vinnisa Arcati and her husband John, of Monroe Twp.; her sister, Mary Senia; her grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas and Thomas Salgo, Jamie McCue, David Cappellino, Taylor Magenheim and, Christian and Jillian Arcati, and; her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Brianna McCue. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 AM, Thursday from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Holy Trinity RC Church, Helmetta. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, LI, NY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
