Jean M. Sykulski

Genevieve "Jean" Marie (Chojnacki) Sykulski, 88, of Spotswood, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Spotswood, Jean was a lifelong resident of the borough. She was a homemaker who loved to be outside tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, and a member of the Spotswood Seniors. Jean loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and crocheting. Predeceased by her husband, Aloysius Sykulski in 1987, and her brothers, Stanley, Frank and Joseph Chojnacki, she is survived by her son, Robert Sykulski of Fort Wayne, IN; her daughter, Catherine Betler and her husband Glen, of Spotswood; her granddaughter, Jennifer Betler and her companion Bobby Petrucelli, of Old Bridge; her grandson, Glen Betler II and his wife Rebecca, of Old Bridge, and; her sisters-in-law, Mary Chojnacki of Spotswood and Doris Chojnacki of Auburn, PA. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM, Monday, from the Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial from the Church of St. Bartholomew, Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. Entombment thereafter in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations honoring Jean's memory be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 18 South Street, Spotswood, NJ 08884 or, the Spotswood Emergency Medical Services, 77 Summerhill Road, Spotswood, NJ 08884.
