Karen Necela, 80, of Monroe Township, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Jersey City, Karen was raised in Hudson County and lived in Bergen County before settling in Monroe Township in 1992. She retired in 2004 after 37 years as an elementary school teacher in North Bergen’s Kennedy School. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. She enjoyed music, live concerts and Broadway shows, travelling – she visited 37 states, including Hawaii – cruising and, spending time at the beach in Asbury Park. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Karen was very much devoted to friends and family and, she was always there to help.
She is survived by her husband of 33 Years, Edward Necla; sons, Thomas Necela and his wife, Melissa and Brian Necela and his wife, Laura; brother, Kenneth Jaeger; grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Micah, Jacob, Jonah, Grace, Elsie, Noah, Malachi and Abby, and; great-grandchildren, Uriah, Maverick and Nolan.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 20th, from 1:00 until 5:00 PM, at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. A private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Karen’s memory may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation.
