Karen Sue (Proserpi) Schiavone, 69, of Helmetta, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Springfield, MO, Karen was raised throughout the United States and abroad, as her family and her father, a US Army major, moved about assignments. She came to Central New Jersey in the early 1960's, living in Edison and New Brunswick and spending more than 25 years in Highland Park before settling in Helmetta in 2001. Karen was the long-time president of the Homeowner's Association of Lakeview Commons, Helmetta. Prior to her retirement in 2007, Karen worked as an accountant and comptroller for the former Mack Truck Company of Edison, the Metrix Group of Piscataway and then, for Sunshine Bouquet of Dayton. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and she was an aficionado of country music. She also enjoyed genealogy and freshwater fishing. She especially treasured spending time with her grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Norma Proserpi, she is survived by her sons, David Schiavone of Frederick, MD and Craig Schiavone of Helmetta, and her grandchildren, Trevor and Kayla.
