Lenora Lillian (Jenkins) Quackenbush, 90, of Old Bridge, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her home. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Lenny settled in Old Bridge more than 80 years ago. After graduating from St. Peter's Medical Center School of Nursing in New Brunswick, Lenny went on to serve as a U.S. Army nurse during WWII in Burma, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. After the service, she was a homemaker for many years before returning to nursing at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, finally retiring in 1985. Lenny enjoyed cooking, sewing and baking, and she specialized in designing wedding cakes. Predeceased by her husband Forrest Quackenbush in 1984, she is survived by her children, Lee Quackenbush and his wife Linda of Jackson, Roy Quackenbush and his wife Donna of Old Bridge and, Nancy Nodelman of Old Bridge; her sister Lorraine Noschese of Old Bridge, and; her grandchildren, Lisa Scott and her husband Rob, Amy Quackenbush, Luther Quackenbush and his wife Patty, Gregory Quackenbush and Samantha Nodelman. Funeral services will begin Monday at 11:00 AM from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Cremation will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations honoring Lenore's memory be made to: VNAHG Hospice Program, 1100 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.
