Lula Mae Greene, 87, of Spotswood passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022.
The oldest of ten children, Lula also known as Rosa, was born on March 25, 1935 to parents Eleanor and Samuel Greene, Sr. of McClellanville, SC. Lula attended school in McClellanville, SC and upon completion of high school she moved to New York City where she worked in a domestic capacity for many years and during that time she gave birth to three children. Upon retirement Lula moved to Spotswood, NJ where she remained until she departed this life.
She leaves to cherish her memories her three children Bernard Greene Sr., of Washington DC, Barbara Vanderhorst of Brooklyn, NY and Tonia James of Monroe Twp., NJ; two sons in law Sherwin James and Orrin Vanderhorst; five grandchildren Kyle and Deidre James, Kevin Vanderhorst, Bernard Greene Jr. and Jessica Greene; two sisters Ella Greene and Myrtle Greene both of Brooklyn, NY; three remaining brothers James Greene of Washington DC, Anderson Greene of Brooklyn, NY and Glennie Greene of Queens, NY; three sisters in law Marjorie Greene of Washington DC, Josie Greene and Geraldine Greene both of Brooklyn, NY, and; a host of niece's nephews relatives and friends.
The family will gather for a Celebration of Lula's Life on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, NJ.
