Martin Kerins Obituary

Martin Andrew Kerins, 77, of Monroe Township, died Monday, February 26th at his home.

Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, Marty lived in East Brunswick and Spotswood before settling in Monroe Twp. in 1996. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and also served in the Naval Reserves. Marty worked for 25 years as a police officer in the City of Newark and spent many of those years as a motorcycle officer prior to his retirement in the early 90s. He was a quiet man who enjoyed the outdoors and designing landscape.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sonja Kerins of Monroe Twp.; his children, Michael Kerins and his wife Prodelyn, of Englishtown and Mary Ann Kerins of Monroe Twp.; his siblings, Rosie McCarthy, Rita De Winne and Thomas Hughes, and; his grandchildren, David and Christine Kerins.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spotswood Funeral Home, however, due to ongoing renovation construction, the visitation will take place on Thursday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Lester Memorial Home, 16 West Church Street, Jamesburg. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 9:15 AM from Lester’s followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park after our Mass.
