Mary R. DeBlasi, 99, of Spotswood, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Danbury of Westerville, Westerville, Ohio.
Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, she married her husband, Michael, in 1965 and in 1977, she moved her family to Spotswood. Mary and Michael moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2024. She was a devoted communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Spotswood. Prior to attending Immaculate Conception, she was a communicant and at St. Lucy’s in Newark for many years.
Mary worked as a telephone operator for the former Bell System of New Jersey before her retirement. She was an avid reader and was rarely seen without a book in her hand. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad in her younger years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Spotswood Public Library and St. Peter’s Hospital and the local food bank, both in New Brunswick.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Michael, who passed away in August of this year, her brother, Frank DeMartino and, her cousin, Amy Dombrowski, whom she was raised with as a sister, due to having been orphaned. She is survived by her children, Marya DeBlasi, Michelle DeBlasi and her husband, Michael Nixon, and Michael DeBlasi and his wife, Nicole, and her grandchildren, Sam Nixon and Miles and Ella DeBlasi.
A Committal service will be held on Monday, December 15th at 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, on a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Mary’s memory may be made to World Central Kitchen.
