Panagiotis "Pete" Dimopoulos

Panagiotis "Pete" Dimopoulos, 79, of Spotswood passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 after a long illness.

Born in Limnochori, Achaia, Greece, Pete came to the United States when he was 29 years old. He spent several years living in northern New Jersey before settling in Spotswood in 1987. Pete, together with his wife Bessy were the owners of the former Summerhill Road Deli in Spotswood from the mid-1980s until Pete's retirement in 2000, after which his wife and daughters continued to operate the business until they sold it in 2006. Pete was an avid fan of WWF wrestling and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, spending time with his friends and especially with his grandchildren. Pete was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vasiliki "Bessy" Dimopoulos; his daughters, Andriana Kube and her husband Dennis, Jr and Penelope Dimopoulos; his siblings, Zisimos Dimopoulos and his wife Matina, Sotirios Dimopoulos and his wife Ioanna, Georgia Koliopoulos and her husband Dimitrios and Olga Zigourakis and her husband Dimitrios; his grandchildren Dennis, III and Olivia, and; many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, October 13th with an 11:00 AM Church Service from St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, River Road, Piscataway. Committal will then follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 12th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Panachida will take place at 5:30 PM during the visitation.
