Patrick O’Brien, 58, of New Brunswick passed away suddenly on March 5, 2021 after a brief illness.
The family is heartbroken over the loss of a beloved brother, uncle and cousin. Many of you know that Pat was born in Brooklyn, New York but raised in Limerick City, Ireland. He moved to New Jersey in 1984 when he was 22, living first in Spotswood before moving to New Brunswick. He went on to become a successful businessman as the owner of P. O’Brien Electric. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh pipe band, and a longtime member of the Raritan River Boat Club, where he docked his pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, tossing a few pints and entertaining us all with heartfelt renditions of Neil Diamond, Elvis and so many more.
Pat is predeceased by his loving parents Pat and Mary O'Brien and brother Dermot of St Mary's Terrace, Limerick City, Ireland. He will be sadly missed by his brother Keith, sisters Jane, Lynda, Freda and Annette, brothers-in-law Noel, Tony and Declan, sister-in-law Janice, and nieces and nephews Mark, Kieran, Alison, Lisa, Laura, Ciara, Sadhbh, Keith and Kian, and grands Tadhg, Oisín, Abigail, Ruby and Rían all of Ireland.
He will be further missed by his New Jersey family: Margaret, Michael, Annette and Eileen, Erin, Stephanie, Emily, Colleen, Katie, Jessica, Mikey and Dan, and many other cousins both stateside and in Ireland.
Private services have been entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home.
