Richard Steven Godowski, 80, of Lake City, Florida, formerly of Spotswood, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in Florida.
Born in Bayonne, Rich was raised in Spotswood, where he lived for many years before moving to Iselin and Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania, thereafter settling in Florida in the mid-2000's. He served in the United States Air Force and also the Air National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer with many Veterans Administration programs. For many years, he was an HVAC technician for Pathmark, Rutgers University, National Lead and Air Products Corp. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and he loved the outdoors.
Predeceased by his wife Jean in 2014, he is survived by his daughters, Dawn Ackerman and her husband Bob, of Chesilhurst, Jackie Burke and her husband Jim, of South River and Kathleen Forman and her husband Darren of Gilroy, CA; his stepdaughters, Debbie Turi and her husband Joe, of Spotswood, Jackie White of Pennsylvania and Kathleen Stiles and her husband Mike, of Texas, and; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlin, Corrin, Daniel, Kyli, Colin, DeAnna, Cody, Rosalind and Mikie.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15 AM from SPOTSWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Washington Road, Parlin. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
