Robert A. Jurgensen, 95, of Whiting passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in the former Madison Township, now Old Bridge Township, Bob lived most of his life there before settling in Whiting in 2002. Bob attended the New Brunswick Vocational-Technical High School where he was a was a member of their baseball team. He was a long time member of the Simpson United Methodist Church of Old Bridge and also a current member of the Whiting United Methodist Church. He retired in 1981 from Kimberly-Clark in Spotswood where he worked for 10 years in their warehouse as a forklift operator. Prior to that, he was an auto mechanic for Perrine Pontiac, formerly located in Jamesburg, where he worked nearly 20 years. Bob enjoyed tinkering with everything from cars to home improvement projects. He even built his first home. He enjoyed stock car racing and traveling throughout the United States and many European countries. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Predeceased by his sisters Pauline Brown and Sovilla Holdsworth, he is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Jurgensen, of Whiting; his sons, Alan Jurgensen and his wife Karen and Neal Jurgensen and his wife Lisa; his grandchildren Jason Klett, Jonathan Stashek, Kyle, Rebecca and Thomas Jurgensen and Debra Boettcher, who lovingly referred to Bob as "Poppy" and "Bampop," and; his great grandchildren, Gracie, Clayton, Savannah, Benjamin, Arielle, Madysen and Ava.
Funeral services will begin at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 5th at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick, with a graveside service and committal. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home.
