Ronald F. Linzey, 91, of Spotswood, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 3, 2023.
Born and raised in Nutley, Ron has called Spotswood home since the late 1950s. Ron was drafted to the US Army and served in the Korean War as a mortar man. Upon discharge he took advantage of the GI Bill. While working, he put himself through night school at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He worked his way from the mailroom to the Director of Avionics at the ITT Corporation. He loved sharing his stories about all he contributed to helping both our military and civilians with navigation.
Ron spent his retirement years in Spotswood with a deep knowledge and interest in American history, reading novels, gardening, taking riverboat cruises and trips to Florida with his wife Fanny, spending time at the Jersey Shore and sailing his sailboat with his grandkids. He never missed any of his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a devoted Spotswood Chargers fan due to his many years of involvement in helping build the Spotswood Youth Baseball League.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Fanny in 2006 and his siblings, Marylou Wilks and Kenneth Linzey, he is survived by his daughter Karen Shearn and her husband James and Ronald F. Linzey Jr.; his grandchildren James Shearn and his wife Kimberly and Eric and Steven Linzey, and; his great-grandchildren, JD, Kyla and Zachary.
