Rose Marchitto Obituary

Rose Marchitto, 92, of Sayreville, passed away on August 28, 2018 at Hackensack Meridian Hospital, Holmdel. 

Born in Union, Mrs. Marchitto was a long time Jersey City resident.  She settled in Sayreville in recent years. 

She was a homemaker. She was most proud of her large close family and their many accomplishments.  Mrs. Marchitto was a devout rosarian who faithfully prayed with 28 different sets of rosary beads daily.  She also enjoyed her many trips to Canada with the rosarians from Holy Rosary Church.   Mrs.Marchitto enjoyed "find the words" searches, Atlantic City casinos, with particular fondness playing slot machines, going to the racetrack on a beautiful afternoon, playing video poker and hoping to find a jackpot beneath the silver scratch off covering of an instant lottery ticket. 

Above all, Mrs. Marchitto was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Predeceased by her husband, Dominic, her son, Carmine, and her son-in -law, John Nelan, She is survived by her children, JoAnn Ambrozia and her husband, Michael, Joseph Marchitto and his wife, Marianne, Carolina Brown and her husband, Ken, Rosemarie Mohsen and her husband, Diaa, Theresa Ryan and her husband, Patrick, Maria Nelan, Michael Marchitto, Christina DeFelice and her husband Nicholas, Dominic Marchitto and his wife Lisa, Josephine Dragotti and her husband, Jeffrey, and Anthony Marchitto and his wife, Barbara, her brother, Joseph Giacona and his wife, Carol, 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Thursday, August 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6;00 to 9;00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood.  Funeral services will begin Friday, August 31st at 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 344 6th Street, Jersey City.  Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City.
