Shane Richard Gathy, 63, of Freehold, passed away suddenly at AdventHealth Heart of Florida, Haines City, Florida on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Born in New Brunswick, Shane was raised in Old Bridge where he lived until 2019, when he settled in Freehold. He retired from the New Jersey State Laborers Union Local 77 in 2016 after more than 20 years with them. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with lawnmowers and repairing small engines. He was a very devoted husband to his wife, Linda.
Predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Gloria Gathy and, his sisters, Elizabeth Jean Gathy and Crisanne Miller, he is survived by his cherished wife of nine years, Linda Ann Cohen-Gathy, his step-daughter, Jennifer Marie Cohen and her companion, Alex Pagan; his siblings, Fawn Lance and her husband, Bob, Carol Pugaczewski and her husband, Mike, Samuel Richard Gathy and his wife, Donna and, Kathy Moran and her husband, Billy; his nieces and nephews, Kristy Lynn Colon-Watters, Corine Bruno (Rob), Richard Samuel Gathy (Chelsea) and, Evan Moran; his great-nieces, Ava and Gianna Bruno, and; two very special people, John and Megan Wademan.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 25th from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Manalapan Road, Spotswood. Interment will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Old Bridge Turnpike, East Brunswick, immediately following our Mass. Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 24th, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home.
