Shirley Slade

Shirley Slade, of blessed memory, 81, of Manalapan Township, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she resided there until 2023 when she came to live in Manalapan to be closer to her family. For more than 35 years, Shirley was a bookkeeper for Condé Nast Publishing of New York City, New York, retiring in 2011. She was an avid fan of watching her daytime soap operas, enjoying her coffee and coffee flavored ice cream, hosting holidays where she cooked for her family and, going out to eat where, due to her generous nature, she would argue with everyone that she was picking up the check. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and grand-dogs and, she was very protective of her sister, Elaine.

Predeceased by her husband, Barry Slade (OBM) in 1986, Danny Garuccio Mike and Joy’s Son (OBM), and her grandparents, David and Dora Kaplan (OBM), who raised Shirley, she is survived by her children, Jay Slade and his wife, Carrie and Michael Slade and his wife, Joy; a sister, Elaine Weiner, and; her grandchildren, Brooke and Brianna.

A chapel service will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 29th at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Queens, New York. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 at the Chapel.

The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Shirley’s name, may it be a blessing.
